What are the responsibilities and job description for the North America Quality Center - Powertrain Quality Engineer (MI) position at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc.?
- Investigate quality issues on Genesis, Hyundai, or Kia vehicles responding to requests from Hyundai /Kia affiliates or North America Quality Center (NAQC) registered projects resulting from New Model Evaluation, Field Quality, Competitor Benchmarking, Syndicated Result Tracking, & Representative of Customer Voice.
- Investigating and verifying quality issues of internal Combustion Engine mechanical structure, Engine Control Logic, and EV & P/HEV components. ( such as High voltage battery system, onboard charger, motor inverter, etc.)
- Investigating charging infrastructure with EV manufacturers in R&D and Quality.
- Define customer's subjective concerns using objective data with accurate field duplicating conditions with the use of data. Data loggers are used to capture exact conditions when the concern occurs.
- Conduct field or on-site investigations and subjective and/or objective evaluations during driving to attempt to duplicate conditions or concerns on current and future models.
- Analyze large field data to identify systematic issues (such as customer verbatim, warranty, etc.)
- Work closely with vendors to investigate the root cause of a problem and confirm the effectiveness of countermeasures.
- Provide Engineering Support to dealers (remote/offsite or onsite) for non-fixable problems by performing root cause analysis and providing methods of resolution.
- Provide technical support for quality-related meetings and product evaluation programs with sales affiliates and assembly plants.
- Establish plans and execution to support Durability/Reliability testing for new and existing models to provide continuous engineering analysis, identify problems, conduct root cause analysis, and to provide countermeasures or resolution.
- Identify major quality problems, break down to systematic areas, and provide Engineering analysis and research results to provide 'lessons learned' on current and future models.
- Conduct vehicle future model evaluation and validate current models' update effectiveness.
- Benchmark competitive vehicles to research differences and improve Hyundai/Kia vehicle systems.
- Publish quality Reports on driving evaluations, investigations, analysis, and recommendations for related affiliates.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of NHTSA, Nationwide Automotive Syndicated studies, & Social Media is required.
- Travel up to 40% of time domestic and international.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- Position requires some 'Hands On' experience with modern vehicles.
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
