What are the responsibilities and job description for the Off-road/Traction - Engineering Intern position at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc.?
- Data acquisition & sand simulation
- Support in acquiring data for various test modes & vehicles - focused on supporting an optimal sand-to-torque map
- Create a sand-depth-and-density measuring device
- Support off-site testing
- Assist with off-site testing including recovery, driving, event support, etc.
- Proactive work attitude
- Must show a good attitude towards work and collaboration with others
- Must be willing to learn
- Mechanical engineering student with vehicle dynamics-related coursework
- Working towards an engineering degree (BS or MS) at an accredited university
- Educational understanding:
- Should be able to think logically through some basic vehicle dynamics and wheel slip
- Beneficial if one has a deep understanding of deformable surfaces and their relation to vehicle slip or stability
- Beneficial if one understands data acquisition systems, sensors, etc.
- Beneficial if one understands vehicle interface methods like CAN bus
- Show an interest in cars, off-roading, powersports, or other vehicle development
- Through SAE competitive teams or previous experience(s)
- Moderate driving ability
- Not required to have a high degree of driving ability, but should have situational awareness both in and out of the driver's seat
