Summary
The WWTP Lab Analyst is responsible for conducting laboratory tests and analyses to monitor and maintain the quality of wastewater treatment processes. This includes performing routine chemical and biological testing, recording results, and ensuring that the wastewater treatment plant complies with environmental regulations and quality standards. The Lab Analyst will also support plant operations by providing data-driven insights for process optimization and troubleshooting, ensuring the plant runs efficiently and remains in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant certifications in laboratory analysis or wastewater treatment processes are highly preferred, such as:
- State-approved wastewater treatment operator certification (Class I, II, or III)
- Certified Environmental Laboratory Technician (CELT)
- Water/Wastewater Laboratory Analyst Certification
- National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) Laboratory Analyst Certification
- Certified Chemistry Technician (CCT) or equivalent laboratory certifications.
• At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within wastewater treatment or environmental analysis.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong understanding of chemical and biological processes involved in wastewater treatment.
• Proficiency in laboratory testing techniques, including chemical analysis, microbial testing, and use of laboratory instruments.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards for water quality and wastewater discharge.
• Ability to analyze data, interpret laboratory results, and provide recommendations for process adjustments.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate test results and record-keeping.
• Proficiency in using laboratory software and data management systems.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment such as microscopes, spectrometers, pH meters, and analytical balances.
• Ability to handle hazardous materials and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to report test results and collaborate with plant staff.
Essential Functions
• Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests on wastewater samples, including chemical, biological, and microbiological analysis.
• Record, interpret, and report test results to plant management and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
• Provide recommendations for process optimization based on laboratory findings and data analysis.
• Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab testing and data analysis.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with the operations team to address wastewater treatment challenges and improve plant efficiency.
• Participate in training and development opportunities to stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements.

Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
