Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:
- Customer interfacing Liaison work
- All aspects of product design and development, from customer concept thru final requirements, review with customer and communication/coordination with MOBIS HQ.
- Conduct feasibility reviews and communicate with Customer and MOBIS HQ for all development engineering issues.
- Control and support engineering data/documents delivery between customer and MOBIS HQ.
- Support identification and resolution of Quality issues on Head/Tail Lamp between customer and MOBIS HQ.
- Support customer development stage events based on product development timing such as Lit Mockup, DV/PV Testing and PPAP.
- Play an interactive role as an Optical Engineer between Customer and MOBIS HQ.
- Work on-site but also frequently offsite at customer facilities.
- Perform benchmarking and technology trend survey on Automotive Lighting system for North American market.
- Local Engineering work
- Review and support all product designs according to established company processes from quotation through product launch.
- Lead root cause analysis and drive proper corrective actions for technical issues.
- Maintain industry standards while balancing the need for cost effectiveness and high quality.
- In-depth knowledge of Optical design, regulatory, and system.
- Drive continuous improvement of product design for reduced cost, increased performance, and high quality.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes involved with lighting Electric/Electronic parts.
- Keen system level focus on defining and verifying product engineering requirements and related vehicle interface requirements.
- Prioritize and guide group activities to design new products, modify existing products, and optimize designs for assembly.
- Analyze/Simulate Performance of Optical system with Optical software.
- Validate/correlate products with photometric testing equipment.
- Work collaboratively with Local Customer, Local team members, Research engineers from or in Korea- Your project(s) may accompany HQ research engineers remotely or on your business site.
- Consult with Expatriate coordinator to enhance communication with R&D HQ.
- Working with customer on all phases of product development and conducting reviews to identify issues.
- Reduce cost and maintain high quality by continuous improvement in product design and development.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in optics/physics/Mechanical Engineering.
- Masters or Doctorate in Optics preferred.
- Knowledge of DFSS, FMEA, Design for Manufacturability preferred.
- Experience with LED properties, selection and use.
- Experience with CAD systems, Catia and SPEOS preferred.
- Experience utilizing/designing for regulatory testing processes.
- Excellent communication skill in terms of collaborating with R&D, marketing, manufacturing, domestic and third-party suppliers and customers.
- Excellent ability to identify and drive resolution to engineering problems.
- Knowledge on photometric regulations (FMVSS 108, SAE, ECE, CCC, GCC) related to Exterior Lighting.
- Understanding knowledge of regulations for both Europe/North America lamps for automotive industry.
- Ability to analyse cause and test principle for Light Distribution Dissatisfaction.
- Experience with Light Distribution Test Equipment preferred.
- Operate and maintain test equipment i.e., LMT, Optroniks preferred.

- Good knowledge of engineering failure mechanisms and how they relate to customer failure modes.
Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity.
Expected Hours Of Work
- A typical work week is 40 hours/week.
- Working hours for hourly internship employees are flexible with a typical day starting 7am- 9am M-F.
- Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
- Shop or laboratory work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions.
- In-field, PG, or track testing involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc.
- Stress may occur periodically.
