What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foam Quality Lab Technician position at Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System, LLC?
Summary
Supports the foam pad line and seat assembly line by performing tests as required. Most of the testing involves durability simulation of vehicle interior conditions. Testing responsibilities include mechanical preparation and instrumentation, test execution, data collection and post-test removal of test equipment and components.
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Performs daily foam pad testing.
- Performs daily H-Point and Static Load Deflection.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps.
- Completes projects by assisting project team; attending and participating in group and project meetings.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Skills and Work Experience:
- Up to 2 years Laboratory experience
- Up to 2 years Automotive experience
- Computer Experience (Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail)
- Desired experience with Durability, Sound Evaluation, and Hardness Test Machines
- Desired experience with Torque Wrenches, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gages, Pin Gages

- Moderate walking and standing throughout the shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Required to use at least one hand to type, handle objects, boxes, equipment, tools and paperwork
- Required to raise his/her arms overhead to work, reach, and carry
- Required to use close vision, peripheral vision, focus and see colors as required to read equipment and material labels, color-coded inventory, computer terminal screens, etc.
- May be required to wear safety Personal Protective Equipment for eyes, face, head, feet, hearing, hands and arms.
- Be willing to travel for training if required
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to work a fixed or rotating schedule
The employee generally works in a production/warehouse environment.
