The Position:
The Plumbing Designer/Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed working diagrams and layouts of equipment, sanitary waste, vent piping, domestic hot and cold-water piping, storm drainage piping, and associated plumbing building systems, including dimensions, and other engineering information.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment, primarily AutoDesk Revit, and AutoCad.
- Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
- Coordinate with and consult with other project team members to design, layout, or detail components and systems to resolve design or other problems.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting components, designs, and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Layout, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe the operation and maintenance of building systems.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree (A. A.) in Drafting, Design, CAD from a two-year college or technical school. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year university preferred.
- 3-4 years of experience with CAD software/drafting, primarily Autodesk, AutoCAD and Revit required.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Analyzing needs and project requirements to assist in creating a design.
- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
