Summary/Objective
The clinical supervisor reports to the CME Director and is responsible for ensuring that the medically related emotional and social needs of the OhioRISE members are met and maintained on an individual and Child and Family Team (CFT) basis in accordance with OhioRISE policies and procedures, and current federal, state, and local standards and regulation guidelines. Primary job responsibilities involve clinical supervision of multiple Care Coordination Supervisors, Care Coordinators as they complete needs assessments, service and resource linkage, and care coordination to support youth, their families, and caregivers in the OhioRISE plan in achieving their health and outcome goals. The Clinical Supervisor may work directly with individuals to complete diagnostic and needs assessments, review crisis plans, safety plans and treatment plans to promote meaningful treatment and improve outcomes for the individuals served through OhioRISE. The Clinical Supervisor may be both office, community-based and may perform some tasks from home. The Clinical Supervisor may engage with individuals, parents/guardians, Boundless staff, community members, and other service and support providers via face-to-face engagement, telephone, video conferencing, and electronic communication. Day-to-day activities are varied based on the needs of the staff and communities. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the staff under their clinical supervision are trained and follow all required standards, guidelines, policies, and regulations. The Clinical Supervisor is accountable for ensuring the staff under their supervision meet all expected timelines and outcomes, including completion of assessments, outreach, documentation, and reporting.


Essential Functions

  • Monitor and ensure the completion of all required needs and diagnostic assessments, documentation, and reporting activities of staff under their supervision.  
  • Monitor the clinical transition, as appropriate, of youth and families/caregivers out of the OhioRISE program. 
  • Mediates clinical issues and concerns that may arise among clients, families, and staff. 
  • Provides care coordination staff and manager with crisis management services training as needed.
  • Trains and consults with staff regarding psychosocial and diagnostic needs that encompass mental health, development, and diversity of individual clients to increase staff knowledge and skills. 
  • Educates staff about any relevant state legislation or regulations relating to behavioral health services. 
  • Advocates on a case, policy, and program level. 
  • Participates in policy decision making in a way that encompasses an understanding of the issues and implications relevant to the developmental and behavioral health needs of clients. 
  • Provide on-call availability and support for youth and families/caregivers outside regular business hours, on a as needed basis for staff.  
  • Conduct ongoing community resource development to identify formal and informal resources in the communities served, initially and on an ongoing basis, paying particular attention to the availability of culturally responsive resources. Educate staff regarding available resources. 
  • Lead team and community meetings regarding necessary resource development specific to the communities served. Collaborate with other service providers and community members to build out the necessary systems of care to meet the communities' needs. 
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships, through regular communication and meetings, with the local system of care partners such as the children’s services system, Title IV-E agencies, boards of developmental disabilities, local corrections and court systems, schools, family and children first councils, managed care organizations, providers of behavioral health services, and primary care providers. 
  • Provide clinical review and audit of OhioRISE members’ charts and documentation to ensure OhioRISE and ODM compliance and support quality improvement. 
  • Provides clinical and training supervision to LSW staff. 
  • Oversees services provided by LSW staff and cosigns LSW documentation. 
  • Respond to and be available for staff and their clients and families in crisis, as needed, including referencing the crisis plans and facilitating the appropriate linkage to de-escalate the crisis. 
  • Ensure teams under their clinical supervision meet clinical documentation, and contract requirements as established by the organization.  
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication coordination between team members, individuals, families/ caregivers, community members, and collaborating organizations. 
  • May provide coverage or back-up for assessments, crisis planning, crisis linkage, or after-hours calls. Must maintain training and expertise in the requirements and processes around these activities to perform the backup or coverage function. 
  • Create a collaborative and engaged team environment where passionate team members feel educated and supported to perform their daily activities. 
  • Perform hiring, evaluation, coaching, and other personnel-related activities according to the organizational policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure team participation in all quality improvement activities, as applicable. 
  • Ensure team members complete all required training according to established timelines. 
  • Ensure team members are trained on and accurately reporting any reportable incidents according to organizational policies and procedures and regulatory body rules. 
  • Work in partnership with the OhioRISE Managers and other Supervisors to ensure all staff is following the OhioRISE compliance and Care Coordination guidelines.
  •  Attend meeting with Aetna, Ohio Department of Medicaid and other agencies with or in place of  the CME Director and/or the Vice President.
  • All other assigned duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will provide clinical supervision to Care Coordinators, Care Coordination Supervisors and clinical support to the OhioRISE Managers.  

 

Work Environment 

This job regularly works in the community, providing services outside of the office, in schools, client homes, and other community settings. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.  

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.   


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand based on needing to link an individual or family in crisis to the appropriate resources or perform initial outreach to a crisis referral.  


Travel 

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected occasionally. Position may require transporting clients as appropriate to support their linkage needs. 


Minimum Education & Experience 

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field of study.  
  • Three years of experience in children’s behavioral health, child welfare, developmental disabilities, juvenile justice, or a related public sector human services or behavioral healthcare field, providing community-based services to children and youth and their family or caregivers. 
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas of expertise:  
  1. Family systems 
  2. Community systems and resources 
  3. Case management 
  4. Child and family counseling or therapy 
  5. Child protection 
  6. Child development 
  • Training in cultural competency or the ability to complete such within 90 days of hire. 
  • Three years of supervisory or management experience. 

Required Licensure/Certification 

  • Current Ohio mental health professional license including LISW, LPCC, LIMFT, PSY, LIMFT-S, LISW-S, or LPCC-S. 
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles - No more than 5 points on driving record.  
  • Valid car insurance. 
  • Current High-Fidelity Wrap-Around and CANS Assessor training or the ability to complete such within 90 days of hire.
