Summary/Objective
The communications and marketing intern will assist with content creation, internal and external communication plans, media placement, and social media content and strategies. The communications and marketing intern will work collaboratively as a member of the advancement and communications team and other internal partners.
Essential Functions

- Works closely with the communications and marketing manager, philanthropy manager, and other staff as appropriate in creating a wide variety of internal and external communications for Boundless and our client agencies
- Writes engaging original content for Boundless communications, including newsletters, program descriptions, executive communications; content for the Boundless website; and other externally-focused marketing and communications materials
- Assists with communications of special events and promotions, including design of flyers, advertising, and social media exposure
- Posts and monitors social media content and updates

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferably pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Advertising or Public Relations)
- Must have computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Graphic design experience
- Experience with fundraising, WordPress, and marketing; basic photography and videography; experience with web authoring
- Experience working in the field of developmental disabilities.
Requirements
- Because Boundless serves an at-risk population, all staff members – including interns – must successfully pass all pre-employment screenings (including, but not limited to a drug test and a background check)
- Interns must provide their own computer with reliable internet connection
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This is primarily a remote work position. On occasion, the communication and marketing intern may be asked to visit the Worthington campus.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Paid internship, approximately ten hours a week for up to 12 weeks.
