Summary/Objective
The Dietitian is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing dietary interventions tailored to the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role includes developing nutrition education programs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and advocating for nutritional health. This role is vital for ensuring that individuals with IDD receive appropriate nutritional support, contributing to their overall health and quality of life.
Essential Functions
• Nutritional Assessment: Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for individuals with IDD to identify dietary needs, preferences, and potential health risks.
• Individualized Meal Planning: Develop and implement customized meal plans that accommodate specific health conditions, preferences, and cultural considerations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, caregivers, and families to ensure a holistic approach to nutrition and health.
• Education and Training: Provide nutrition education and training to individuals, caregivers, and staff on topics such as healthy eating, food preparation, and meal planning.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor dietary intake and health outcomes, adjusting plans as necessary to optimize nutrition and support individual health goals.
• Advocacy: Advocate for accessible and nutritious food options within community settings and residential programs.
• Policy Development: Contribute to the development of nutrition-related policies and guidelines within the organization to promote best practices.
• Research and Continuous Learning: Stay updated on best practices, emerging research, and trends in nutrition and IDD.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures in addition to regulations, laws and other requirements from applicable governing bodies, certification, licensure and/or accreditation entities, etc.

Education, Skills, Experience and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
-Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential is required.
-Minimum of 1 year experience working with individuals with IDD or in related healthcare settings is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record, if applicable.

Work Hours: This is a full-time, exempt position. Hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional schedule variations, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel Requirements: Travel is regular, but primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected on occasion.
