Summary/Objective

The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for providing behavioral health services, including therapy and case management services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. This role will provide treatment services to individuals with complex needs and engage in case consultations to ensure appropriate clinical collaboration, support, and professional development opportunities. Services may be provided in person or via telehealth, dependent upon client preference and clinical appropriateness. Individual, group, or family services are provided in an assigned treatment program, office, or community based settings (including homes, schools, and other community settings). This role is expected to be successful in treatment of moderate and high acuity cases and to engage in case consultation when treating high acuity cases.

Essential Functions

- The Clinician provides behavioral health services including day treatment, individual/family/group therapy, and case management services to address individualized treatment needs to individuals with complex needs.

- Participate in professional development opportunities including team meetings, case reviews, and trainings.

- Complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments that includes the client’s presenting concerns, strengths, and preferences, including cultural, religious, and ethnic background and implications for the care plan.

- Help clients and families identify needs and develop a service plan to meet those needs.

- Orient clients and families to the program, its services, service limitations, and clients’ rights.

- Involve clients and families in treatment planning, encouraging attendance at care conferences or with outside providers/professionals.

- Attend scheduled care conferences and identifies and interprets psychosocial needs of clients for inclusion in the care plan.

- Complete mandatory documentation within timelines established by applicable regulations and policies.

- Mediate issues that arise among clients, families, and staff.

- Provide linkage with appropriate community resources by maintaining knowledge of other systems, making referrals, and identifying unmet needs (e.g., recreational, transportation, healthy/safety, employment, etc.)

- Provide clients and families with crisis management services as needed.

- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to support clients and coordinate care.

- Develop a comprehensive discharge plan in collaboration with clients, clients’ families, multidisciplinary staff, and referral agencies.

- Provide training and consultation to staff regarding psychosocial needs that encompass mental health, development, and diversity of individual clients to increase staff knowledge and skills.

- Aid in the professional development/clinical supervision of Behavior Technicians/Qualified Behavioral Health Specialists as needed.

- Within 60 days of hire, successful completion, and maintenance of the required physical crisis management training(s) and certification(s) applicable to the assigned program.

- Advocate on a case, policy, and program level.

- Meet monthly requirements for billable hours as established by the department.

- Provide clinical peer chart review of charts and documentation to ensure compliance and support quality improvement.

- Responsible for reading and following the employee handbook and all Boundless policies and procedures.

- Responsible for completing and following all training assigned.

- Attend meetings and professional development activities as required.

- Participate in administrative supervision as required.

- Adheres to company policies and procedures in addition to regulations, laws and other requirements from applicable governing bodies, certification, licensure and/or accreditation entities, etc.

- This job operates in a professional environment, working in an assigned treatment program or community-based settings, including schools, client homes, and other community settings.

Supervisory Duties

This position has no supervisory duties.

Education, Skills, Experience and Requirements

- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.

- Independently licensed through the State of Ohio as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Clincal Counselor (LPCC) or a Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT).

- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child, and infant. (Training will be provided, if not already certified).

- At least two years of experience working with people with mental health conditions.

- At least one year of experience working with people with autism spectrum disorders and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.

- Personal vehicle to transport clients as needed.

- Able to pass training to become certified to provide physical intervention as needed

- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record, if applicable.

Work Hours: 

This position operates Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. May be required to cover rotation for on-call after-hours coverage to support crisis needs. A 4 day (10 hours/day) work week may be available depending on the organization's needs.

Travel Requirements:

 Based on program assignment, may include frequent travel between service locations in assigned region.
