POSITION OVERVIEW
At I Dream Big Academy Charter School, we are on a mission to inspire and empower students to become leaders, innovators, and lifelong learners. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Assistant Principal who is passionate about instructional leadership and committed to fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.
As the Assistant Principal, you will serve as a key instructional leader, working closely with teachers, students, and families to ensure that every classroom is a space of rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning. You will drive academic achievement, support professional development, and help shape a school culture where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Instructional Excellence – Ensure high-quality teaching by coaching educators, analyzing student data, and implementing research-based instructional strategies.
Drive Student Achievement – Develop and monitor academic interventions, assessment strategies, and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Support & Develop Teachers – Provide ongoing professional development, mentorship, and feedback to help teachers grow and refine their instructional practices.
Foster a Culture of Innovation – Champion student-centered learning approaches, project-based instruction, and 21st-century skills development.
Monitor & Evaluate Curriculum – Work collaboratively with educators to ensure a standards-aligned curriculum that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and real-world application.
Build Strong Relationships – Partner with families, staff, and community members to create a collaborative learning environment focused on student success.
- Ensure a Positive & Inclusive School Climate – Lead initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and restorative practices while maintaining high behavioral and academic expectations.
Support School Operations – Assist with daily school management, teacher evaluations, scheduling, and policy implementation to ensure a smooth, effective learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
✔ Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
✔ Valid state administrative certification/licensure (or eligibility to obtain).
✔ Minimum 3-5 years of successful teaching experience with demonstrated instructional impact.
✔ Prior experience in leadership roles (e.g., instructional coach, department chair, dean, or assistant principal).
✔ Deep knowledge of curriculum design, assessment practices, and instructional coaching.
✔ Experience implementing data-driven decision-making and school-wide academic initiatives.
✔ Strong understanding of social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative practices, and culturally responsive teaching.
NICE TO-HAVES
- Experience in a charter school or innovative school model.
- Background in STEM, entrepreneurship, or project-based learning.
- Proven track record in turning around struggling classrooms or schools.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish or other languages).
- Familiarity with technology integration in the classroom and blended learning models.
