Primary Function:
The Security Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of construction projects involving access control and video surveillance systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual obligations. The Security Project Manager acts as the central point of coordination among clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, driving efficiency and quality in every phase of the project lifecycle.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Pre-Construction:
- Manage projects ranging in value from $10,000 to $3,000,000.
- Provide pre-construction support, including tendering subcontract bid proposals, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring all parties understand and meet contractual obligations.
- Develop a comprehensive Project Management Plan outlining goals, objectives, risks, staffing, roles, milestones, and deliverables.
- Project Execution:
- Oversee drawing and design development, material procurement and delivery, and the construction process through invoicing to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Coordinate and execute changes or additions to security systems, including hardware and software configurations, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues, including physical and software-based problem detection and resolution.
- Technical Support and Consultation:
- Provide direct technical support for system utilization and monitor response times to resolve problems effectively.
- Offer training, consultation, and support for the installation and maintenance of security systems.
- Participate in the planning, design, technical review, and implementation of new systems.
- Resource and Personnel Management:
- Manage all field personnel and support staff to ensure consistent and profitable project installations.
- Quote small projects, create change orders, and forecast labor to meet profit targets.
- Contract and Financial Management:
- Ensure all contractual issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Monitor project progress and financial performance, addressing any deviations promptly.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices in security system installation and management
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in the construction industry is a must, 6 – 10 years’ experience with hardware and software installation and maintenance in a security related environment or combination of education and experience.
- Application security systems related certifications and training.
- Must have experience in managing and controlling project costs.
- PMP designation or the ability to obtain it within 1 year is preferred.
- Current Security License.
- Must have exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and presentation software.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
