Mainframe Database Engineer
Job Responsibilities
The Mainframe DMS2 Database Engineer is primarily responsible for understanding the data structure and extracting the data for archiving and migration purposes.Analyze existing data sources and determine migration requirements.
Develop data migration strategies and plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
Perform DMS2 database activities in the UNISYS 4380 Mainframe system, including writing ETL queries to extract all records for migration, cleansing the data, and transforming the extracted records/data in a format the new system (built on Salesforce) can consume.
Collaborate with the customer database team to develop stored procedures and rules to transfer data and continually refresh throughout the implementation.
Perform data profiling and quality assessments to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues promptly.
Collaborate with software developers and business analysts to coordinate migration activities.
Document migration processes, workflows, and data mappings for future reference.
Additional Requirement (preferred): Load data to the new system to be built on the Salesforce platform.
Position Requirements
College/Technical Degree with 8-10 years' technical experience with increasing responsibilities, knowledge, and expertise.
5-7 years of UNISYS DMS2 Database Administrative Experience.
Advanced technical knowledge of DMS2 - SQL and extracting data from UNISYS 4380 Mainframe system.
Strong execution mindset to perform independently, manage assigned tasks, and report progress.
Works collaboratively with other team and application developers and exhibits strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; proven problem-solving skills; technical problem-solving skills and analytical skills; ability to prepare correspondence and documentation.
Knowledge of COBOL programming language and the Salesforce platform is preferred.
