What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwork Production Manager position at i.M. Branded?
The Millwork Production Manager is responsible for directing and managing all millwork manufacturing operations. This position has the overall responsibility and ownership of the processes, deployment of resources, scheduling, quality control, shipping and cost control surrounding the manufacturing of our standard and semi-custom millwork product lines. The Millwork Production Manager will be responsible for improving and optimizing current operations for our existing facility and continuing our growth strategy. This position reports directly to the VP of Manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to)
§ Primary/Direct responsibility to safety, quality, delivery and cost of all millwork production.
§ Enforce all safety policies and procedures. Embrace a high regard for safety, leading and serving as a role model for others.
§ Tie together millwork production sub-departments for optimized and efficient material and production workflow.
§ Collaborate with senior leadership in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans
§ Manage policy development in the areas of Lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures (balanced scorecard)
§ Identify, communicate, and lead implementation of capital investments and improvement projects
§ Own processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints
§ Coordinate production timing/prioritization through planning with various stakeholders (Project Manager’s, Engineering Department, etc.) and work with these parties to implement new products and/or processes
§ Develop, implement, and maintain production tracking or QC systems to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
§ Own ongoing operations and resolve production processing issues and/or deficiencies
§ Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communication. Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment.
§ Strong coaching and development skills. Able to accurately assess employee strengths and development needs; provide timely, specific feedback and clearly communicate job expectations.
§ Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel issues
§ Develops and maintains a preventive maintenance plan and schedule for all equipment and building related assets in conjunction with the maintenance manager.
§ Coordinate methods of facility or equipment maintenance/alteration, including the addition or replacement of equipment in conjunction with the maintenance manager.
§ Prepare and maintain various production reports and personnel records and enter pertinent data into Company ERP system as needed
§ Maintain current knowledge of the millwork and QC fields, specifically staying abreast of materials use or pertinent technological advances
§ Prepare and present regular reports and businesses updates to senior leadership
§ Other duties as assigned by Manager/Company Management
REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (include but are not limited to)
- Proficiency with computers and the MS Office Suite including Excel
- Knowledge and prior practice of Lean Manufacturing techniques and methodologies
- Extensive knowledge of millwork production materials & techniques
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Detailed, with strong time management and organizational skills
- Critical thinking/problem solving skills and the ability to define workflows and production throughout optimization analyses
- Relationship development and management skills at all levels- shop floor to C-suite
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (include but are not limited to)
- The ability to safely lift heavy and/or cumbersome objects weighing 50 lbs.
- Bending/stooping/kneeling, walking and climbing to package/load
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree- operations, management, engineer related field or equivalent
- 7 years of demonstrated success managing a millwork production line from a cost, process, quality, and employee relations perspective
- Demonstrated successful experience working both autonomously and with others in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong attention to detail
- Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years senior leadership role in manufacturing environment
- 10 years of demonstrated success managing an entire millwork production facility/operation from a cost, process, quality, and employee relations/development perspective
- Extensive Lean Manufacturing background, green/black belt certification
- Experience working with ERP systems, Innergy is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Some mild exposure to saw dust created in product fabrication
- Exposure to the sounds of a variety of shop machinery (saws, etc.)
- Frequently seated at a computer but will also walk to coordinate the work activities of others and hold meetings. May also facilitate other, more manual tasks (see Physical Requirements above)

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
