What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer 1 position at i3 Assembly?
Job Summary: The Quality Engineer 1 will be responsible for carry on baggage screening equipment. This position will run factory acceptance testing, audit the product quality, track and manage system level non-conformances, interact with other departments to apply corrective and preventative actions and drive improvements to enhance the quality of our products and the conformance of processes to our procedures and quality system. This position will use statistics, quality process and data tools to track and analyze quality performance and will summarize and report on field return MTBF levels.
Essential Functions:
- Run and perform Factory Acceptance Testing.
- Determine Preparedness for FAT Testing.
- Document test results, analyze data and prepare Factory Acceptance Test reports.
- Create inspection and test procedures.
- Communicate effectively within functional groups.
- Train inspectors.
- Identify critical to quality items and establish inspection requirements.
- Develop technology tools.
- Develop SPC charts.
- Track in process defects.
- Prepare corrective and preventative action reports.
- Perform line and process audits.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Quality, Statistics or a related Engineering or Science field.

- A desire to apply technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the quality system.
- An ability to quickly learn new technology and equipment.
- Experience with statistics packages helpful.
- Experience with R helpful.
- Experience with Matlab or Octave helpful.
- Experience with PowerBI and databases helpful.
- Familiarity with drawings.
- Familiarity with GDT and other drawing related nomenclature and symbology.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
Work Environment:
- Will work in a production environment.
- Will work around equipment that uses x-rays.
- Ability to stand, stoop, reach, grasp and lift and use mechanical and electrical test and measurement equipment.
- Will work with computers to collect, input and record data.
- May be required to lift-up to 40 pounds.
- Will wear required protective equipment, including but not limited to safety shoes and safety glasses and gloves as required by specific tasks.
- Will be required to visually inspect assemblies and parts.
