Employment Type: Full time Shift: Night Shift Description: Position Purpose: The Operating Engineer maintains and operates all Boiler, Chilled Water, Generator, Medical Gas, Medical Vacuum, Domestic Water, Air Handling including Refrigeration, Hydronic Heating and Cooling, Steam Distribution, Pneumatic Controls and associated component support systems. Must also have a working knowledge of sprinkler controls, fuel systems, and various other building systems and know how to access support personnel as necessary. What you will do: Operates, maintains and monitors high-pressure boilers and their support systems. Operates, maintains and monitors chillers, chilled water and their support systems. Operates, maintains and monitors all domestic water (hot/cold/hot water recirculating), and hydronic heating/cooling distribution equipment. Operates, maintains and monitors all air handling systems. Performs daily water testing and maintains proper chemical levels in all systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing plant equipment Hours: 11:00pm to 7:00am, 7 nights on, 3 nights off, 3 nights on, 1 night off. Every other weekend and holiday. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school graduate Experience: Must have demonstrated three years competency operating high-pressure boiler systems and their support equipment and/or be able to be within a 12-month period, a certified boiler operator through the Iowa Association of Building Maintenance Engineers. Special Skills and Competencies: Renews Mandatory Reporting requirement every 5 years. Must be mechanically inclined. Must be able to remain calm and think clearly in a stressful situation. Must be computer literate. Must have valid driver’s license. Must be able to wear appropriate mask and be fit tested on an annual basis.
