Employment Type: Full time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Position Purpose: The Security Officer carries out the responsibilities of maintaining order within the health center by monitoring and securing the premises and by responding to threats and safety concerns. Enforces all health center regulations in accordance with applicable operation guides. Assists law enforcement agencies and the Mason City Fire Department personnel as required when on medical center property. What You Will Do: Utilizes problem solving knowledge and skills to investigate problems and formulate solutions to improve safety, maximize growth and reduce costs. Acts in a professional manner reflecting the mission, philosophy and values of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa and the Sisters of Mercy. Embrace change and takes prudent risk to find new ways to support the mission, encouraging new ideas to serve our patients and communities. Provide and accept coaching and feedback. Patrols all buildings and grounds of Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa on foot. Vehicles are to be used covering large parking areas and remote parts of the campus. Enforces hospital parking regulations and policy. Secures helicopter pad for landing and liftoff. Responds immediately to all Code calls, using the fastest and most direct means, and performs directed duties in accordance with Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Policies. Hours: Rotating Shifts - 40 hrs. per week Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Law enforcement education preferred. Experience: At least one year of previous experience with public or military law enforcement agencies preferred. Special Skills and Competencies: Neatness and diplomacy skills required. Writing skills necessary to file daily and special reports required. Must have valid driver’s license. Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.
