Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Position Purpose Responsible to the Director of Rehabilitation Services and/or the designated Site Leader to assist the physical therapist with the administration of a medically prescribed physical therapy program for assigned patient/clients. Function under the direct supervision of the physical therapist responsible for a specific patient’s/client’s care. Assumes responsibility and accountability for providing physical therapy modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a treatment plan of care established by a physical therapist and in accordance with established facility and departmental policies and procedures while maintaining the highest degrees of quality care. The age of patients served ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics. What You Will Do Works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards of professional physical therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork. May be assigned to orient staff and students. Participates in performance improvement and program development activities, which includes providing input into the budgetary planning process, contributing to cost effectiveness of services, and maintaining positive relations with all customers. Participate in special department/clinic functions as assigned by the team leader or director. Responsible for submitting accurate charges for service provided. Must consider cost and necessity of supplies with the delivery of care for each patient. Achieve productivity targets. Responsible for safe use and care of all therapy and office equipment used. Must maintain knowledge of equipment and report malfunctioning equipment. Supports and conduct one’s self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations. Minimum Qualifications Current Iowa licensure, registration and/or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) as per state regulations. Graduate from an accredited 2-year college level PTA education program. The curriculum accreditation is provided by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) or, for those who graduated before CAPTE, curriculum approval was provided by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). For internationally educated PTAs, curricula are approved by a credentials evaluation organization either approved by the APTA or the credentials evaluation provided by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) and the Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy (FCCPT). Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
