Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Position Purpose Assists the Radiation Oncologist in preparing the patient for radiation therapy treatments. Under the supervision/direction of the radiation physicist and oncologist, gives radiation therapy treatments. Documents in daily logs the correct dosages utilized. Ages of patients served range in age from adult to geriatric. What You Will Do Records charges for services and materials used or delegating charges to be recorded. Responsible for the proper use and care of the radiation therapy equipment, simulating treatment equipment, and block set up (if applicable). Observes safety precautions when handling patients during administration of radiation therapy treatment. Uses appropriate protective devices necessary to shield patients. Minimum Qualifications Must be on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (T), and Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice Must be a Registered Radiation Therapist Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire. The Radiation Therapist: must know basic patient care skills, operation of oxygen equipment, radiation therapy treatment equipment, record and verify system, Linear Accelerator Unit, simulation and block preparation skills. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
