Job Summary :
IAC is seeking a skilled Structural Detailer to join our team onsite in Overland Park, Kansas . In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise and detailed technical drawings for steel structures, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and fabrication requirements. As a key member of our engineering and drafting team, you will contribute to large-scale industrial projects , including bulk material handling systems, air pollution control (APC) equipment, dust collection systems, pneumatic transport, and hazardous gas emission mitigation solutions . The Steel Detailer will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to develop high-quality, fabrication-ready designs that drive efficiency in manufacturing and construction.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings of steel structures, including beams, columns, trusses, platforms, and other industrial components.
- Generate shop drawings, erection plans, and material lists for fabrication and construction.
- Interpret and review engineering designs, architectural drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve design issues and optimize detailing processes for manufacturing efficiency.
- Utilize detailing software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Advanced Steel , Tekla Structures or SDS / 2 to produce accurate models and plans.
- Perform clash detection and proactively identify potential fabrication or installation challenges.
- Ensure all drawings and designs comply with AISC, OSHA, and project-specific standards .
- Maintain thorough documentation of all revisions and updates to shop drawings.
- Assist in estimating material quantities and verifying bill of materials (BOM) for projects.
- Support quality control processes by reviewing and refining designs before submission.
