IAG Performance in Westminster, MD is seeking to hire an energetic shipping and receiving specialist. The shipping and receiving specialist is responsible for managing the movement of goods, materials, and products within the organization. This includes receiving incoming shipments, verifying their contents, and organizing their storage or distribution. They are also responsible for preparing outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in documentation, and coordinating with carriers or couriers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive incoming shipments:
- Inspect and verify the accuracy of received goods against accompanying documents or purchase orders.
- Unload and unpack shipments, checking for damages or defects.
- Record and report any discrepancies or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Organize and store received goods in designated locations.
Prepare outgoing shipments:
- Package, label, and prepare items for shipment according to specific guidelines.
- Determine appropriate shipping methods and carriers based on cost, time, and customer requirements.
- Generate shipping labels, invoices, and other required documentation.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of shipping records.
Coordinate logistics:
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely fulfillment of orders and deliveries.
- Communicate with carriers or couriers to schedule pickups or deliveries.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Resolve any issues or delays in transit, working closely with carriers and internal teams.
Compliance and safety:
- Adhere to all relevant shipping and receiving regulations, laws, and procedures.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Identify and report any potential safety hazards or risks.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- Forklift experience or license.
- Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics roles.
- Familiarity with shipping software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipments and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
