JOB DESCRIPTION - Evermore Resort:
The Resort Lifeguard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safety and performance of lifeguards, ensuring a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for all guests. This role involves supervising lifeguard staff, conducting training sessions, enforcing safety protocols, and responding to emergencies as needed. The Lifeguard Supervisor will also assist in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the aquatic facility and provide a positive guest experience for patrons.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and read, talk, and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee is frequently required to climb and work at heights above 15 feet.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit or balance.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to wear polarized sunglasses.
- The employee may be exposed to weather conditions that are prevalent at the time. This includes temperatures as low as 50 degrees and upwards of 120 degrees. You may be working in direct sunlight and windy and rainy conditions.
- The employee will be required to work in water positions where they will be exposed to chlorine and other traditionally used pool chemicals.
- The noise level is generally moderate to high.
- The employee must be able to complete a StarGuard Elite Lifeguard swim test which includes:
- Swimming 50M unassisted
- Swimming 50M with a rescue tube
- Descending to 12ft to retrieve a 10lb dive brick.
- Treading water without the use of their hands for at least 60 seconds.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Supervise and manage a team of lifeguards, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
- Oversee daily operations and ensure safety and customer service expectations exceed industry standards.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to lifeguards.
- Ensure all Lifeguarding staff are following StarGuard Elite best practices and standards.
- Contribute to park clean up, including opening and closing duties, etc.
Training and Development:
- Conduct initial and ongoing lifeguard training sessions under the StarGuard Elite Lifeguarding Program.
- Ensure all lifeguards are up-to-date with certifications and training requirements.
- Maintain an active StarGuard Elite Lifeguard certification.
- Mentor and coach lifeguards to improve their skills and performance.
- Be a model of excellence in aquatics for the Lifeguarding team.
Safety and Emergency Response:
- Enforce all pool rules and regulations to ensure the safety of guests.
- Monitor pool area to prevent accidents and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Administer first aid and emergency care when necessary.
- Conduct regular safety drills and inspections of equipment.
Facility Maintenance:
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the aquatic facility.
- Ensure all safety equipment is in good working condition.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the Aquatics Manager.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to all guests, addressing any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Educate guests on pool rules and safety practices in a professional manner.
- Cooperate and coordinate with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of lifeguard certifications, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Complete paperwork and administrative work as assigned by IAM, including daily paperwork and checklists.
- Create and maintain rotations, break schedules, and daily position staffing.
- Maintain high confidentiality about employees’ performance, employee/guest medical history, or other protected information regarding Evermore Resort or IAM.
- Assist the Aquatics Manager with administrative tasks as needed.
- Miscellaneous
- All other tasks as assigned by Management.
EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
- Current StarGuard Elite Lifeguard, Supervisor Certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a lifeguard; previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
