Role Overview:
The Senior Governance & Control Analyst will be responsible for performing critical risk and control testing, business process walkthroughs, and issue management. This role will be focused on ensuring that controls are operating effectively and will involve assessing the quality and efficiency of processes across various business units. The individual will play a key role in reporting and quality assurance to maintain and enhance risk management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Process Walkthroughs: Lead and support walkthroughs of business processes to identify risks, assess controls, and document key control points.
- Control Testing and Assessments: Perform regular testing of business controls to assess their effectiveness in mitigating risks. Evaluate compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Issue Management: Identify and track issues related to governance and controls, including the development of action plans to address gaps. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve and monitor the resolution process.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance reviews of internal controls and processes to ensure that they meet company standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure that testing is thorough and documented accurately.
- Reporting: Prepare and deliver clear and concise reports on control testing results, issues, and recommended actions. Communicate findings to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Risk and Control Framework Development: Assist in the ongoing development and enhancement of the company s risk and control frameworks. Contribute to the identification of emerging risks and the creation of mitigation strategies.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Work closely with business units, internal audit teams, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective risk management processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in risk and control testing, business process assessments, or related roles, ideally within a governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) function.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and control testing methodologies.
- Proven experience with business process walkthroughs and control assessments.
- Ability to identify risks, design mitigation strategies, and manage issues through resolution.
- Strong report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex findings to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Quality assurance experience with an eye for detail and process optimization.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and best practices related to governance and risk management.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for analysis and reporting.
- Experience with GRC tools and systems is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on delivering high-quality work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP), or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Experience in a regulated industry, such as banking, finance, or insurance, is a plus.
