Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Geospatial and Survey group has an opportunity for a Survey Manager in Honolulu, HI to help our growing geospatial market. The Survey Manager will ensure the preparation of accurate, complete and value-added survey work products to consistently meet clients’ project goals. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a team environment and supervise other members of the survey crew.

The Survey Manager will ensure the preparation of accurate, complete and value-added survey work products to consistently meet clients’ project goals. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a team environment and supervise other members of the survey crew.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manages survey projects and is responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of projects.
- Responsible for survey calculations, construction plan review, analysis, map checking, and record drawings research.
- Coordinate with contractors to provide survey services.
- Identify controls for property lines and make the appropriate decisions regarding how to proceed with the survey.
- Gather all necessary information needed to properly conduct the survey in the most time efficient manner and assign tasks to crew members.
- Discuss work with clients, as necessary.
- Make calculations and maintain records essential to survey.
- Work in a safe manner and obey all safety regulations.
- Communicate with management to maximize efforts and man-hours.
- May serve as the leader on the team. Coordinates activities of field crews, including providing job assignments, information, direction, and daily checking of work product.
- Assists with business development, proposal preparation, project management, and final review for all surveys prepared (QA/QC).
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team, and training, coordinating, and leading others in accomplishing work activities.
- Well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of survey work.
- Thorough knowledge of residential and commercial construction stakeout procedures and practices.
- Familiar with field procedures for performing boundary and ALTA/ACSM land title surveys.
- Requires advanced knowledge of local survey laws, surveying principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Demonstrates intermediate to advanced skills in survey processing software such as Trimble TBC.
- Demonstrates intermediate to advanced skills using AutoCAD Civil 3d
- Working knowledge of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
- Preferably familiar with Field to Finish workflows for topographic surveying.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Demonstrates strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
- Ability to work outside in all seasons.
- Must be willing to travel during the week.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
- AS or BS Degree or equivalent in Geomatics, Surveying or related field preferred.
- Licensed by the state of Hawaii or California in Land Surveying preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
