Iberia Comprehensive Community Health Center (ICCHC) and its satellite health centers are the leading providers of primary health care services in the communities we serve, including individuals who are both insured and uninsured. ICCHC provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive health care services, including vision care.
ICCHC is currently seeking a full-time Optometric Technician for its New Iberia location.
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT
This position works under the supervision of the Optometrists and Vision Center Manger. The Optometric Technician is a member of the eye care team. The Optometric Technician performs required visual tests and prepare patients to be examined by the Optometrist, provides quality direct patient care to all patients served in the optical setting and works to ensure smooth and efficient coordination between physician and patients. May also assist with front desk and optician tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or equivalent. An Associate’s Degree in Optometric Technology preferred. Optometric Technician Certification preferred.
- Six months of experience in a vision office as an Optometric Technician highly preferred. Previous work experience as a medical assistant considered.
- Knowledgeable of the various aspects of optical operations. Understanding of the anatomy of the eye as well as normal, abnormal vision and perception. Should possess basic knowledge of knowledge in optometry terminology, processes and principles.
- Must have a positive attitude towards working with low-income families.
