Iberia Comprehensive Community Health Center (ICCHC) and its satellite health centers are the leading providers of primary health care services in the communities we serve, including individuals who are both insured and uninsured. ICCHC provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive health care services, including vision care.
ICCHC is currently seeking a full-time Optician for its New Iberia location.
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
This position works under the supervision of the Optometrists and Vision Center Manger. The Optician is a member of the eye care team. Opticians provide customers with lenses and frame options that suit their needs. They work closely with other Opticians to maintain updated inventory records, assist customers and process payments. Their job is to use their knowledge of optometry to provide customers with helpful feedback about which types of glasses or contact lenses would work best for them as prescribed by the Optometrist. They may also be responsible for using specialized devices to fit lenses to frames for customers following prescriptions from the Optometrist. Opticians are responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, doing inventory checks and predicting demand for products based on sales data and market trends. May also assist with front desk tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent. Training in fitting contact lenses helpful. Optician Certification preferred.
- 1-2 years of optician experience preferred. Previous sales experience is desirable.
- Knowledgeable of the various aspects of optical operations. Understanding of the anatomy of the eye as well as normal, abnormal vision and perception. Working knowledge of proper sales techniques. The job requires good computer skills. One must also demonstrate good ethical judgment in investigating and resolving problems. Strong organizational skills.
