IMC is looking to hire a Certified Medical Assistant for Employee Health. Under the general supervision of the Infection Preventionist/Employee
Health Coordinator and with the authority of the Director of Quality
Management, the Certified Medical Assistant functions as a member of the
Quality Management department, with responsibilities in the areas of
pre-employment and annual health assessments of volunteers and employees,
health promotion programs and assisting in meeting state and federal
regulations that impact Iberia Medical Center employees and volunteers. The
Certified Medical Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary
to assess the health of employees and volunteers based on completion of the
employee health screening. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to
provide care for adult & geriatric populations. Demonstrates knowledge and
skills to function within an office environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High School
graduate
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Medical Assistant
certification Medical Office
Assistant Certification CPR
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Ability
to perform health assessment questionnaires and accurately document the
results.

Ability
to communicate effectively

Ability
to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, management, volunteers and
contract employees.

Ability
to administer vaccinations and perform fit tests
PRINCIPLE TASKS,
DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform
pre-employment health assessments on new hire employees and volunteers,
making proper recommendations regarding employment.
Maintains
appointment calendar for pre-placement health assessments, working with
the HR department to schedule appointments in a timely manner.
Maintains a record
of employee health assessment, PPDs, HEP Bs, and follow-up appointments.
Maintains Employee
Health files.
Maintains and
protects confidentiality regarding contents of employee health files.
Notifies employees
of Employee Health appointments.
Update immunizations
and initiate mandated vaccines as per state/federal guidelines to employee
on an annual and as needed basis.
Initiate mandated
vaccines as per state/federal guidelines to employees and volunteers.
Participates in
departmental and hospital improvement plan, as needed.
Functions as a
positive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of Iberia
Medical Center.
Maintains
confidentiality, security, and integrity of employee and organizational
data.
Consistently lives
by Iberia Medical Center’s PROMISE Standards of Behavior
Any other duties
required by Infection Preventionist or Dir. of Quality Mgmt.
Assist with
employee post exposure incidents by following up with the employees of
their results
Schedule
follow-ups for employees who have had any type of exposure on the job for
blood work, etc.
Inputs
immunization records ad updates flu vaccination status with the Louisiana
Department of Health/LINKS
Takes the lead on
administering flu vaccinations for IMC employees leading up to flu season
Keeps a log of
temperatures for the vaccine fridge
Orders materials
and supplies for the Quality Department.
