Site Reliability Engineer 1

Introduction

In this role, you will be part of a team that develops and supports the Apptio Kubernetes Platform (AKP) where all Apptio applications are deployed. Your primary focus area will be the segment of the platform dedicated to the public sector.

In a typical day on this role, you will interact with Linux, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Docker, Confluence, Jira, Slack, and AWS.

Your Role And Responsibilities

• Manage deployments of Apptio services to the GovCloud.
• Streamline the deployment process.
• Monitor KPIs of services running in the GovCloud.
• Improve observability of the services within your purview by reviewing KPI dashboards and alerting.
• Author and maintain documentation of deployment and monitoring processes.
• Use runbooks to troubleshoot and triage production issues.
• Detect issues and handle level-1 troubleshooting.
• Serve as “remote hands” for level-2 or 3 issue resolution.
• Escalate to the appropriate product team.
• Collaborate with service developers to update the runbooks.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
• Perform maintenance of the platform (patching, resets, upgrades, etc.)
  
  

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Experience with distributed Linux/Unix environment
• Familiarity with container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)
• Familiarity with RESTful systems and their APIs
• Familiarity with cloud provider services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Familiarity with observability (e.g., Prometheus)
