IBSS is seeking a Part-Time Academic Program Coordinator to strengthen existing programs and develop new ones throughout the Northeast Fisheries Science Center.
These academic programs provide educational experiences and training to students preparing to conduct research and management tasks critical to NOAA's mission. The programs help NOAA and NEFSC recruit a skilled, talented workforce as diverse as the nation we serve.
Key Responsibilities:

- Serve as a key advisor and program manager
- Oversee all education and outreach activities
- Assess existing programs and develop tools for evaluating academic and educational programs
- Facilitate efforts to improve curriculum and materials
- Establish a system for tracking participants
- Assist with maintaining and strengthening existing partnerships and networks
- Serve on committees and working groups within NOAA and with partners outside of NOAA
- Work on educational programs for the general public and younger students, promoting scientific literacy and supporting NEFSC's stewardship effort
- Undergraduate major or minor (or significant course work) in natural sciences and/or research experience in natural science, and/or previous successful experience administering a science-based program
- Demonstrated leadership working with and/or participating in groups of students, including high school and undergraduates, and including students from communities under-represented in STEM
- Experience in day-to-day supervision of diverse groups of students and teaching and/or mentoring relationships with individual students
- Experience in program administration
- Demonstrated ability to make program decisions independently
- Demonstrated ability to determine when program decisions need to be shared and/or approved
