IBSS is seeking a Part Time Research Assistant to conduct literature searches and assist in organizing a DFO-NOAA workshop.
This project aims to bring two currently disparate research communities together to support two "Champions” in the development of a report on the current state of knowledge at the nexus of coastal blue carbon and OA.
The workshop discussions will be guided by questions aiming to characterize:

Description
IBSS is seeking a Part Time Research Assistant to conduct literature searches and assist in organizing a DFO-NOAA workshop.
This project aims to bring two currently disparate research communities together to support two "Champions” in the development of a report on the current state of knowledge at the nexus of coastal blue carbon and OA.
The workshop discussions will be guided by questions aiming to characterize:
- Existing data that speaks to coastal blue carbon capture potentials and co-benefits to coastal acidification mitigation.
- Understanding how these processes could be altered by climate-driven multi stressors which will disrupt coastal blue carbon habitats/ ecosystems and what strategies could mitigate these impacts to further promote carbon capture and deacidifying processes.
- What present knowledge gaps contributed the largest uncertainties with respect to carbon storage and coastal deacidification potential estimates.
- Tracking down and organizing literature, references and related documents, placing them in a bibliographic database
- Collating and synthesizing a wide array of topically-relevant information, and appropriately inserting these references into various manuscripts and documents that the Senior Scientist will be working
- Provide and maintain a general awareness of the topical literature
- Search and capture salient literature on topics provided by the Senior Scientist
- Assist in organizing and running an DFO-NOAA workshop, which will be held in Canada, in November 2024
- B.S. in the related scientific fields (marine, fisheries, ecosystems)
- Demonstrated experience in the publication process
- Demonstrated experience in executing literature searches
- Proficient writing and organizational skills
