IBSS is seeking a Technical Writer to support our government customer, the office of the DoDEA IT Branch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain process, procedure, policy, operations, and communications documentation. This involves collecting and organizing technical information by meeting with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and key stakeholders throughout the organization, pulling information from other technical documentation, and collaborating and presenting to senior leaders within the organization.
- Collaborate closely with technical personnel to gather requirements and refine them into a user-focused format, ensuring clarity, usability, and alignment with user needs and expectations.
- Drafts documents including IT Directives (ITODs), Administrative Instructions (AI), policies, manuals, memos, procedural guides, processes, etc.
- Drafts operational documents including Field/Customer Advisory Notices (FANs/CANs), user guides, and white papers.
- Ability to gain familiarity with cloud technologies and Zero Trust (ZT) initiatives to effectively document IT Division efforts around security frameworks, architecture, and best practices for secure access and data protection.
- Support technical documentation and communications to users regarding cloud and Zero Trust (ZT) initiatives.
- Ensures all documentation is developed in accordance with established processes. Maintains the various documentation repositories and tasking/ticketing systems (CATMS, Sharepoint Online, etc).
- Ensures that documentation produced under this task order is error free, formatted accurately, stored in a centralized repository, and meets the project quality and assurance standards.
- Researches available technical and governance information including Administrative Instructions, external policies, Advisory Notices, procedures.
- Engages with key personnel and SMEs throughout projects to capture documentation requirements, develop drafts, coordinate reviews, and facilitate distribution of final products.
- Compiles and presents technical data and status of documents to senior IT leadership.
- Review internal and external policy documentation to provide guidance on next steps to leadership.
- Compiles reports or tracking sheets to distribute on a scheduled basis.
- Collects and organizes technical information that is required for the preparation of technical publications.
- Assists management in internal audits required by clients and other governmental agencies.
- 3 years experience demonstrating superior written and verbal communication skills in a professional capacity, with a keen eye for details.
- 2 years experience with drafting relevant technical, policy, process, or other relevant documents.
- 2 years experience with collaborating with and presenting information to client senior leadership.
- 2 years providing documentation support in a global/enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with DoD, DISA, NIST, and other relevant documentation to support SMEs and review documentation for accuracy and compliance.
