What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Lower School Exceptional Children's Instructional Assistant position at IC Imagine?
Dedicated, self-motivated part-time Exceptional Children’s Instructional Assistant needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville, NC. Modified, year-round school schedule. This position does not come with benefits. Hours per week not to exceed 30.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must maintain positive and consistent communication with students and teachers related to academics, behavior, and attendance of students
- Work cohesively in a team setting
- Ability to work one-on-one with students, as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff
- Utilize a positive reinforcement behavioral system
- Assist classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional and behavioral objectives
- Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups, as assigned
- Assist with behavior modification, as assigned
- Escort students, as assigned
- Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
- Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions, as developed by teacher, therapist or pathologist.
- Report student concerns directly and expeditiously to the teacher and assist with student resolution.
- Assist students with breakfast, lunch, snack, including clean-up.
- Assist students with basic daily living skills.
- Maintain various records and files.
- Follow the processes laid out in the employee handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, and ensure timely feedback is given
- Perform related work as required.
- Other duties may be assigned
Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated
- Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation, listening, and coaching
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Maintain effective working relationships
- Possess strong time management skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
- Proficiency with GSuite
Education and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma
- 1 year of experience working with students in a school setting, preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, reaching and bending
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds at times
