iCallidus is seeking a highly skilled Functional Tester/Embedded Tester to validate and ensure the quality, reliability, and security of web applications and database-driven systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in Agile teams and will leverage the latest testing tools, techniques, and methodologies to ensure efficient and effective software testing. This role requires expertise in both manual and automated testing to support continuous deployment and improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute functional, regression, integration, and performance test cases for database-backed web applications.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and database administrators in an Agile and Lean environment to define testing requirements and ensure high-quality releases.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test scripts, and test cases based on business and technical requirements.
- Automate test cases where applicable using industry-standard testing frameworks.
- Perform embedded testing to validate database integrity, performance, and application functionality in real-world scenarios.
- Conduct API testing to ensure seamless integration between applications and services.
- Identify, document, and track defects using JIRA, TestRail, or other Agile testing tools.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Ensure compliance with Section 508, OWASP API, FISMA, NIST 800-53, and other federal security and accessibility standards.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines to integrate automated testing into the software development lifecycle.
- Provide comprehensive test reports, analysis, and recommendations for improving software quality and user experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in functional and embedded testing, the candidate should be proficient in testing both server-side and embedded systems.
- Proven ability to ensure the robustness and scalability of systems and collaborate effectively within an agile environment.
- Experience working in Agile teams, following iterative testing methodologies.
- Experience utilizing current testing tools, techniques, and methods for validating both user-facing interfaces and embedded systems. Comfortable operating in an agile and lean environment to regularly ensure updates and improvements are thoroughly tested across the system.
- Strong knowledge of functional and embedded testing principles for database-driven applications.
- Proficiency in modern test automation tools, such as Selenium, Cypress, TestComplete, JUnit, or Postman.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases to verify data integrity during testing.
- Ability to write and execute test scripts in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps to support automated testing.
- Expertise in API testing using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or RestAssured.
- Experience performing accessibility testing in compliance with Section 508 and WCAG guidelines.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment, continuously improving test processes and methodologies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-based testing environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Certifications such as ISTQB, Certified Agile Tester (CAT), or AWS Certified Developer.
- Experience with security testing and familiarity with OWASP best practices.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) testing.
