The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly talented, entrepreneurial, and impact-driven Industrial Design Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for a creative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
As an Industrial Design Intern at Icarus Medical, you will play a key role in:
- New Product Development – Assisting in the ideation, prototyping, and refinement of innovative orthopedic solutions, helping accelerate the pace at which we bring new products to market.
- Current Product Production – Supporting the production and refinement of existing products, ensuring designs maintain consistency, quality, and functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine product aesthetics to maintain a cohesive brand identity across multiple product lines.
- Assist in designing and prototyping new orthopedic devices using CAD software and other design tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and manufacturing, to ensure designs are feasible and optimized for production.
- Research materials, manufacturing techniques, and emerging trends in biomedical and industrial design.
- Support rapid prototyping and iteration using 3D printing, CNC machining, and other fabrication methods.
- Contribute to user testing and feedback sessions to enhance product usability and comfort.
- Seek out ways to improve workflow efficiency in current products.
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial Design
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (Fusion 360 (preferred), Rhino, Blender, or similar).
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.
- A strong portfolio showcasing creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and an understanding of aesthetics and ergonomics.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Passion for medical devices, biomechanics, or wearable technology is a plus.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
