Summary
The VP, Associate General Counsel will assist the EVP, General Counsel, Government Relations & Public Policy (“General Counsel”) in a wide variety of matters that support the government relations and legal affairs function within the organization.

Responsibilities
Provide exceptional legal advice and counseling to support ICBA’s Government Relations department.Oversee outside counsel and litigation in federal courts.Track state legislative, regulatory, and caselaw developments.Review and draft contracts and manage contracting processes.Manage and oversee a wide variety of legal matters, including legal research and writing, document organization and production, policy and procedure development, project management, and litigation.Draft and review court filings, including district court and appellate briefs, motions, and amicus curiae filings.Manage and oversee state association requests and legal matters of interest to membership.Provide legal assistance and support on matters for ICBA, including its subsidiaries, when requested.Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience at a government agency, in-house legal department, law firm practice, or some combination thereof.Licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one state or the District of Columbia.At least some litigation experience is required, and financial services experience is preferred.Familiarity with corporate governance, compliance and risk management.Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.Strong legal writing skills (a paramount competency for this position) and all candidates will be required to submit multiple writing samples.Excellent verbal communication, critical thinking, and strategic development skills.Demonstrated expert knowledge across multiple disciplines, including litigation, antitrust, contract review, employment law, financial services and bank regulation, fintech innovation, third-party oversight, unfair and deceptive practices, discrimination and fair lending compliance and marketing.A strong sense of accountability for both individual and team performance.An ability to work effectively and courteously with different teams within a fast-paced environment.A forward-thinking mindset and demonstrate resilience amidst change management.An ability to prioritize competing priorities with sound judgment.An ability to analyze complex legal issues, evaluate alternate approaches, and provide recommendations for well-reasoned solutions.An exceptional work ethic and enthusiasm for taking on a wide range of projects and responsibilities.A high level of personal integrity, good judgment and maturity.An ability to handle proprietary and confidential information with exceptional discretion.Compensation and Benefits
The target annual salary range for this role is currently $117,000 to $152,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package (medical, dental and vision), 401k plan company match contribution, and an annual performance bonus.
