What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wildland Firefighter position at ICE Fire Suppression?
We are again hiring hardworking, professional wildland firefighters to staff our Type 3 and Type 4 engines. Experience is a plus but training is available. Must be able to travel on short notice when we get a dispatch. We may travel all over the Western United States to fight fire and are expected to work 14 days with 2 days off. Our trucks are high on the Dispatch Priority List and have an excellent history of staying on assignments.
This job requires the ability to grind and work can be intense at times. Often times, the mental demands are more taxing than the physical. Our wildland firefighters must be prepared to work for a full 14 days when dispatched before expecting days off. Ideal employees have great attitudes, love the outdoors, work hard, and are team players.
This is a seasonal, on-call position. Average hours per week, when working, are about 80-85 hours. The season can start anytime from June 1st and go until mid-October. We try to accommodate scheduling needs when or if possible.
