Job Summary:
The UI/UX Developer is responsible for designing and building firm-wide and executive-level dashboards while contributing to the overall user experience (UI/UX) within the Microsoft Power Suite. This role emphasizes creating intuitive and visually engaging dashboards in Power BI, leveraging the semantic layer within the Microsoft Fabric architecture, and influencing the design and usability of model-driven and canvas apps. The UI/UX Developer will also collaborate on the firm’s transition from SSRS reporting to Power BI, ensuring a smooth conversion process while supporting the ongoing creation and maintenance of SSRS reports. As a key member of the team, the UI/UX Developer will actively participate in the build-out and establishment of the firm’s data management team, ensuring solutions align with strategic objectives and stakeholder needs.
Essential Job Duties:
- Solution Design & Development:
- Create and enhance user-friendly dashboards and applications within the Microsoft Power Suite that align with firm objectives and user needs.
- Create intuitive layouts, charts, and visuals to effectively communicate complex data insights for firm-wide, executive, and attorney/client use.
- Ensure consistency in design standards across dashboards and applications to promote a unified user experience.
User-Centric Development:- Gather and analyze user requirements to ensure solutions meet stakeholder needs.
- Employ best practices in UI/UX design to deliver intuitive and visually appealing interfaces.
- Test and refine applications, workflows, and dashboards based on user feedback.
Data Integration & Visualization:- Collaborate with the Data Engineer and Database Admin/Architect to integrate data sources into Power Apps, Power BI, and other solutions.
- Ensure data visualizations are clear, actionable, and aligned with the firm’s goals.
- Leverage Dataverse and SharePoint to enable seamless data storage and integration across solutions.
Innovation Collaboration:- Partner with the Innovation team to develop agile and adaptive solutions that address unique client and firm needs.
- Work closely with the Innovation team to prototype and implement solutions that enhance client and attorney workflows.
- Align solutions with the Innovation team’s objectives to foster creative approaches to solving business challenges.
Optimization & Performance:- Optimize applications and workflows for performance, scalability, and cross-device compatibility.
- Ensure solutions are designed for real-time or scheduled updates as appropriate.6. Collaboration:
- Partner with Knowledge Management, IT, and business stakeholders to align solutions with firm-wide objectives.
- Work with end-users to gather feedback and refine designs to improve usability and effectiveness.
- Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to bridge gaps in understanding.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:- Stay current with trends and updates in the Microsoft Power Suite and UI/UX design.
- Introduce innovative features and capabilities to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles across the firm.
SSRS to Power BI Transition:- Collaborate with the current SSRS reporter to plan and execute the firm’s transition from SSRS to Power BI.
- Convert existing SSRS reports into Power BI dashboards, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
- Support the ongoing creation and maintenance of SSRS reports during the transition period.
Training & Documentation:- Develop training materials and provide sessions to help stakeholders maximize the value of solutions.
- Maintain thorough documentation for applications, workflows, and dashboards, including user guides and design standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of experience in UI/UX development, with a focus on the Microsoft Power Suite.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.
- Experience designing SharePoint pages and workflows.
- Experience with SSRS reporting, including transitioning reports to Power BI.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and data visualization best practices.
- Familiarity with integrating data sources and leveraging the Microsoft ecosystem for development.
- Advanced programming skills in JavaScript, HTML, or similar languages for advanced customization.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a legal or professional services environment.
- Knowledge of Power Query, DAX, and Dataverse integrations.
- Understanding of data security and governance practices.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including the Innovation team.
