POSITION OVERVIEW:

Development Officers are dedicated ambassadors of ICM working directly with major donors to fund the work of the ministry.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising o Development Officers (DO’s) are fundraisers who cultivate relationships with major gift investors to support the mission of ICM. DOs focus on approximately 100 assigned relationships while adhering to ICM policies and advancement philosophy. Required activities include: o Developing, executing, and documenting specific annual plans for each assigned relationship o Practicing a “moves management” strategy for each investor which progressively deepens their relationship with ICM’s mission o Stewarding relationships with investors that yield mutually beneficial and blessed results as well as willingness to advocate for ICM o Promoting and participating in leadership (as assigned) of ICM Field Vision Trips Annual individual goals are assigned by the National Director of Development around metrics which will include (but are not limited to): o Investor retention – insuring that a majority of relationships assigned continue to yield investment in ICM’s mission year after year o Actual revenue requested and raised – both the amount and the result of a DO’s “asks” will be measured to insure optimal revenue generation o Meaningful connections with investors – all interactions with investors will be measured with specific goals for meaningful connections. o Stewardship of relationships – utilization of all available tools (emails, texts, phone calls, handwritten notes, etc.) to facilitate relationships o Identification and cultivation of additional prospects for ICM investment.

Professional Development o Development Officers work cooperatively with the development team and commit to weekly meetings and other team/ministry events to grow the professional development of the team (including attendance at two week-long workshops in the Newport News Office). They are also encouraged to participate in ICM Thursday morning devotionals.

Performs or assists with any assignments as required or directed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some standing is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

This position reports to the National Director of Development

MEETINGS: This position will attend any meetings as directed by their supervisor, to include staff and department devotions.

Meetings required, but not limited to: Ongoing regular video conferences with Major Gifts team as assigned Strategic Development Team meetings Participation by conference call in ICM weekly devotionals Twice-yearly Development Conferences at ICM office or assigned location

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • A follower of Jesus Christ with a servant heart for missions and nurturing believers.
  • Passion for the Word of God and provision of the Word for every people group.

A deep faith and a strong calling to the mission and ministry of ICM. Proven major gift development success, preference towards Christian ministry. Superior communication, presentation, and relational skills with the capacity to travel, greater than 50% expected travel (day trips and overnights). Expected to nurture 100 or more existing and new relationships with the ability to develop specific annual plans/goals and document the execution of activities to achieve them. Team skills to work cooperatively with donor-investors to facilitate and execute vision, plus the desire to foster a culture of shared best practices within the advancement team.

The technical ability to employ hardware and software tools needed in this advancement function (Database search, CRM, presentations…..). Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field

SECTION V: SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Certifications, licensure, physical):

Proof of legal authorization to work in the USA. Pass pre-employment reference screen. Possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. Automobile Insurance Required. Ability to attend twice-yearly development conferences at ICM office or assigned location.

Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $74,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
