POSITION PURPOSE:
Day shift position. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and designated Shift Leads, this position is responsible for operating bag line equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Setup and operate bag machine and support equipment to fill 50 lb. bags
- Sewing feed tag on bags.
- Adjust pressure, tensions making bags presentable and accurate on weight.
- Trouble shoot stoppages and breakdowns.
- Perform quality checks of material being produced. Ex. Bag stitching is uniform and no spacing
- Complete daily production paperwork, bags produced.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Following all site safety guidelines.
- Responsible for production of safe animal food and adherence to internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
- This position will require a work week of no less than 15 hours per week and no greater than 30 hours per week. The schedule will be agreeable between employee and PTUSA York Management.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Must be able to stand for long periods of time. May be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions. Fine visual acuity to read English for accuracy.
The filler removes a filled bag of finished product (up to 60 lb.) from the bagging unit and places it on a platform scale to check the weight. The objective is to get the bags at 50.25 lb. adjustments may have to be made so bag weight is exact (adds or removes finished product to bag). From this point it will be set on a conveyor and ran through a sewing machine once complete the bag will then be lifted off of the conveyor and stacked appropriately onto a pallet. There will be 40 bags per pallet.
Pallets will then be moved to a staging location.

This job requires lifting up to 60 lb. frequently.
