Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Certified Chief Building Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of building equipment and systems across our portfolio of commercial office and industrial properties. The Certified Chief Building Engineer will play a key role in implementing building maintenance programs, managing in-house teams and subcontractors, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
Qualifications :
Technical training or education in building engineering required
10 years of experience as a Chief Engineer for commercial, retail, or industrial properties
Strong project management, supervisory, and organizational abilities
Hands-on experience with boiler and chiller repairs, and fire system management
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Licenses / Certifications :
HVAC Certification
EPA / 608 License
Valid and clean CA Driver’s License
Responsibilities :
Develop and implement comprehensive building maintenance programs to improve operational quality and efficiency.
Establish building standards and maintain property binders with samples of materials, finishes, and equipment information.
Schedule and oversee building inspections as mandated by regulations.
Review and assess current service contracts to identify operational efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
Manage vendors, subcontractors, and maintenance / engineering crews, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standard.
Supervise both in-house and third-party engineers assigned to properties.
Prepare annual operating budgets and forecast capital expenditures.
Monitor and improve building energy management systems through efficient usage programs and regular utility reviews.
Maintain organized property records, including contacts, permits, certifications, and tenant information.
Oversee an inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment at each property.
Act as the HR liaison for maintenance / engineering staff, ensuring compliance with labor laws and safety protocols, including OSHA standards.
Hold regular safety meetings to minimize on-the-job injuries.
Participate in due diligence efforts for potential acquisitions or investments.
Deliver outstanding customer service to internal teams and external clients.
Maintain electronic and hard copy filing in line with company guidelines.
Handle other tasks or special projects as assigned.

Travel to different job sites and properties required, with exposure to typical construction site conditions.
