What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at ICON Consultants, LP?
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Buyer to manage and direct supplier relationships and collaborate with team members to support the external development of diverse spaceflight systems. The ideal candidate will ensure that program requirements are prioritized and executed effectively to align with the objectives of the aerospace company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire procurement process, from requisition creation to the final payment of invoices, while efficiently addressing any issues that arise throughout the process.
- Create and distribute Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Quote (RFQ), performing price analyses to support proposals and developing negotiation strategies to secure advantageous contract terms.
- Develop various contract types for significant procurement projects, including long-range procurement agreements and strategic sourcing partnerships.
- Lead the efforts in identifying, implementing, negotiating, executing, and managing essential agreements, such as Long-Term Agreements (LTAs).
- Ensure that production materials are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with technical performance specifications.
- Work collaboratively with the procurement team to align with the strategic direction of the organization and contribute to the achievement of corporate goals.
- Cultivate and manage supplier relationships by utilizing strong communication skills to build productive partnerships.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in procurement and supplier management.
- Familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Proven track record in negotiating and managing various contract types, including Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Time and Material (T&M), and Cost type contracts (CPFF, CPIF).
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills to navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent analytical abilities with a data-driven mindset and experience in crafting and tracking key program metrics.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, promoting teamwork and relationship building.
- Understanding of AS9100 quality standards.
- Familiarity with engineering data, such as specifications and source control drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Space or Aerospace industry.
- Specialized knowledge in Avionics or Fluids components.
- Awareness of import/export regulations (ITAR/EAR).
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Proficiency with tools like Deltek Costpoint, Jira, and SharePoint.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management; or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
