Position Overview:
As an Optometric Technician at Icon Eye Care, you will play a vital role in assisting the optometrists in providing excellent patient care. You will work directly with patients, performing essential tasks to ensure efficient clinic operations, accurate patient assessments, and optimal eye health management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Check-in & Check-out: Greet patients, check them in for their appointments, and gather necessary information for their visit.
- Work Up Patients: Prepare patients for their eye exams by measuring visual acuity, conducting preliminary tests (such as tonometry, refraction, and retinal imaging), and documenting their medical and eye history.
- History Examinations: Take thorough medical histories, including any current or past health issues, family history, medications, and lifestyle factors affecting eye health.
- Dry Eye Treatments: Conduct dry eye assessments and administer treatment options, such as Envision or other prescribed therapies, to manage and improve patients' eye comfort.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with clear instructions and education regarding their eye conditions, treatment options, and the importance of eye health.
- Assist in Optical: Participate in the optical department by helping patients select frames, explaining lens options, and ensuring that patients are satisfied with their eyewear choices.
- Assist in Diagnostic Testing: Administer and assist with specialized testing such as fundus photography, among other diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure that patient data is entered into the system accurately, and all exam results are properly documented and organized.
- Sterilization and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all exam equipment is properly sanitized and maintained between patient uses. Assist with the cleaning and upkeep of the office to maintain a safe, sterile environment.
- Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with the optometrists and other team members to provide a seamless and positive experience for patients.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a related field (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently.
- A friendly, compassionate attitude toward patient care.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in performing dry eye treatments is a plus, but not required (training will be provided).
- Must Speak Spanish and English
