We are currently looking for an Estimator to join our Convergent Solutions Division located at our headquarters in Granite City, IL. Our ideal candidate for a Estimator is someone with 3 years of experience who is a self-starter with experience in mechanical systems and the capability to estimate projects valued up to $10 million.
Primary responsibilities for icon’s Estimator include:
- Analyzing project plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify project requirements and scope of work.
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Conducting thorough take-offs, material, and labor cost estimates.
- Preparing detailed bid proposals for HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and plumbing projects.
- Sourcing and soliciting subcontractor and vendor quotes to obtain accurate pricing for materials, equipment, and services.
- Assessing project risks and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
- Participating in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and subcontractor negotiations as needed.
- Staying up to date on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs and bidding strategies.
Primary qualifications for icon’s Estimator include:
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or 3 years of relevant working experience is preferred.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the mechanical contracting industry with a focus on HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and plumbing projects.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, construction methods, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform detailed take-offs and cost calculations accurately.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet timelines.
- Proficiency in QuoteSoft or similar on-screen take-off software is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
