Principal Job Description
The Principal is responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards while ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students. This role involves leading, managing, and supervising all school programs, policies, and activities. The Principal monitors instruction, oversees curriculum implementation, and evaluates the effectiveness of instructional and support staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Leads and manages school operations, including recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating staff. Provides coaching, counseling, and disciplinary support as needed.
- Establishes high academic and behavioral expectations for students, using data-driven approaches to track and improve student achievement.
- Engages in school performance reviews to identify causes of low performance and implements targeted improvement strategies.
- Supports the professional development of instructional staff by utilizing assessment data and performance metrics to align training with student needs.
- Ensures a safe and structured learning environment through the systematic implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and other preventive strategies.
- Oversees curriculum implementation by evaluating lesson plans, monitoring instruction, and providing targeted feedback aligned with Florida Education Accomplished Practices (FEAPs).
- Builds strong school-community relationships by actively engaging stakeholders, including the School Advisory Council, PTSA, volunteers, business partners, and parents, fostering a shared commitment to student success.
- Manages the school’s budget and operational functions, ensuring alignment with performance initiatives and maintaining a well-functioning school facility.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
