Description : Summary :
The Packaging Department Lead is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety in the department. This role serves as the first point of contact for department employees, assisting with workflow coordination, troubleshooting, and employee development. Additionally, the Lead is responsible for maintaining accurate records in Paylocity’s Time & Labor, including timesheet upkeep, job requisitions, and attendance point tracking.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Lead by example by actively working alongside employees while ensuring production goals and quality standards are met.
- Oversee daily operations for the department to ensure production goals and quality standards are met.
- Assign tasks, monitor employee performance, and provide guidance as needed.
- Act as the primary liaison between floor staff and management to address challenges and ensure smooth workflow.
- Assist in training and onboard new employees.
- Promote and enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
- Support implementation of lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate timesheets, ensuring employees’ hours are recorded correctly in Paylocity.
- Submit requests for new positions and backfills as needed, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Monitor and track employee attendance points, escalating issues per company policy.
- Work closely with HR and management to ensure compliance with labor policies and regulations.
