Description : Summary :
The Production Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the production planning and scheduling activities within the manufacturing department. This role ensures that production processes are carried out efficiently and effectively, meeting the company’s quality standards and customer demands. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production planning, supply chain management, and leadership.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Production Planning and Scheduling :
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer orders and forecasted demand.
- Monitor production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Adjust schedules as needed to address issues such as machine breakdowns, material shortages, and other production disruptions.
Inventory Management :
Oversee the inventory of raw materials and finished goods.Ensure that inventory levels are maintained at optimal levels to support production needs without excess.Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering of materials.Process Improvement :
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.Implement lean manufacturing principles and other best practices in production planning.Team Leadership and Development :
Lead, coach, and mentor the production planning team.Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Work closely with other departments such as Purchasing, Engineering, and Sales to ensure alignment of production activities with overall business objectives.Communicate production status and potential issues to relevant stakeholders.Data Analysis and Reporting :
Analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, inventory levels, and other key metrics.Compliance and Quality Assurance :
Ensure that production processes comply with industry standards and regulations.Maintain high standards of quality control and ensure that all products meet or exceed quality specifications.Requirements :
Preferred Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.5 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, or supply chain management.Proven experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of production planning software and ERP systems.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.Knowledge and Personal Attributes :
