Job Summary
The Chemical Laboratory Technician for the refrigerant department is responsible for the quality of all refrigerants produced. Each blend must be within the expected guidelines of the AHRI regulations, and within the proper weight range for the respective refrigerant type. In addition, the quality team must ensure the proper operation of all equipment in the lab used for testing, materials needed to complete operate the instruments and the cleanliness of the quality lab. The chemist must also complete calculations for the blend for the tank farm operator, test the quality of the refrigerant and provide recommendations based upon the results received. They must then complete the required reporting for the refrigerant department.
Responsibilities:
- The quality Chemist must be trained in the proper operation of the testing instruments, ensure the proper operation of all testing instruments and be able to complete basic trouble shooting for the following associated instruments.
- Daily tests, analysis and recommendations to other sub-departments based on the results obtained
- Test for NCG, Compositions, Moisture and Weight.
- Calculate and accurately report/record tank farm materials needed to create blends of refrigerant.
- Schedule incoming raw material (ISO Trucks) and report associate data, including arrival, departure, net weight received and chemical heel remaining.
- Track daily production output and report to the appropriate stakeholders. Monthly Summary Reports. Provide daily and monthly reports for inventory counts.
- Keeps the quality lab clean and organized for daily production
- Ensures all chemicals are separated by HAZCOM requirements
- Review expiration dates for all chemicals, and disposes of as needed. Contract the removal of the Chemical Waste Bucket as needed
- Maintain the cleanliness of all storage locations for QC hold items and areas surrounding the QC lab
- Identify incorrect or skewed results and provide explanation on the cause of the issue.
- Troubleshoot machinery and resolve issues as they arise
- Identify quality issues related to the chemical/chemical blend and provide a resolution.
- Additional responsibilities related to advancing the Chemical Laboratory and Chemical Operation.
Required Knowledge/Certifications
- Must have EPA 608 Certification
- Must be Knowledgeable in general laboratory safety
- Experience in a chemical work environment
- Knowledgeable in all SDS and Safety procedures related to the chemicals maintained on site
- Must be knowledgeable in the following math fields and their proper application
- Statistics
- Calculus and Thermodynamics is desired
- Mechanically inclined
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.34 - $24.50 per hour
