Position Overview
The Engineering Intern will work under general supervision and perform moderately complex engineering assignments in one or more of the following fields: manufacturing and/or process engineering, facilities engineering.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, tests, evaluates, investigates, and solves moderately complex problems relative to engineering projects.
- Conducting research to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing.
- Establishing safety procedures for individuals working with dangerous chemicals
- Conducting tests and monitoring the process performance throughout production.
- Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes.
- Conducting research to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing.Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Prepares and maintains statistical data, charts, specifications and reports relative to the plant’s processes.
- Works with technicians or maintenance personnel, providing technical guidance as necessary.
- Oversees and coordinates with outside vendors. Develops services specifications and solicits, evaluates, and recommends bids.
- May design and lead fabrication of parts or sub-assemblies.
- Assists Production and facility Maintenance with problem solving including, but not limited to process quality, equipment performance, and/or cost reduction.
- Assist in developing, implementation, and training on new programs and new processes.
- Follows all Plant rules/regulations and works to acceptable industrial standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Must comply with all safety procedures and programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge in pneumatics, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Computer skills, Microsoft Office
- Ability to read, understands, and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems and learn new technologies.
- Ability to receive, tracks, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to detect problems, repair, and report information to appropriate personnel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Preferred, Not Required)
- Knowledge of Chemical Process and systems.
- Knowledge of PLCs and control systems
- Be able to read and write schematics.
- Ability to connect laptops to PLCs and or Process Controllers.
Education
Pursuing a 4-year degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or other related engineering field.
