Job Description : Health and Safety Manager – Heavy Industrial Environment
Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to oversee and ensure compliance with safety standards, protocols, and regulations in a heavy industrial environment. This individual will be responsible for creating and implementing safety policies, conducting training, and fostering a culture of safety among all employees. Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and Implement Safety Programs
- Create and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, MSHA).
- Develop and implement site-specific safety protocols tailored to heavy industrial operations.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare for and manage safety audits, inspections, and certifications.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and address any compliance-related issues.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation
- Conduct hazard assessments and risk analyses for all industrial processes and activities.
- Identify potential risks and implement measures to mitigate them effectively.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Training and Education
- Design and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and management.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among all staff.
- Ensure all personnel are trained in emergency response and evacuation procedures.
- Monitoring and Reporting
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, training sessions, and compliance activities.
- Provide comprehensive reports on safety performance and improvement initiatives to senior management.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead the site's safety committee and facilitate communication between departments regarding safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Act as a mentor and resource for all employees regarding health and safety matters.
