About the Role
ICR Shareholder Activism & Advisory is a specialist consultancy group within ICR that provides end-to-end strategic shareholder services around event-driven situations, such as advising Boards and management teams on defending against shareholder activists in a proxy battle, contentious M&A/hostile takeovers, etc. This team is one of the fastest-growing activist defense teams in the market today, having been ranked as No. 2 in Bloomberg League Tables under the Strategic Advisors category in under five years.
ICR Shareholder Activism & Advisory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced PR/strategic communications expert to work side-by-side directly with the head of the group as Vice President/Senior Vice President – Strategic Communications.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Advise clients and help implement situation-specific communications strategies focused on financial and transaction communications, investor relations, and shareholder activism
- Support in creation of communications plans and goals in all phases of an activist defense campaign, including development of both tactical and strategic elements, and manage against them
- Drive and execute strategic media relations programs in support of client activism defense campaigns
- Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to execute tactical communication assignments
- Serve as daily client support lead on PR campaigns
- Participate in new business development efforts including research, proposal and pitch development and preparation
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and other team activities
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant Special Situations PR experience, ideally in an agency setting
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, capable of gathering, interpreting, and synthesizing complex information and datasets to derive strategic insights and recommendations for clients
- Excellent strategic thinking skills with the ability to formulate and align stakeholders on comprehensive strategies
- Strong time management and organizational skills, capable of prioritizing and executing tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines
- Ability to think critically and demonstrate good judgment and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and knowledge of supporting communications platforms
- Candidates should be financially savvy and have relevant experience in financial communications and/or related experience in research, consulting, marketing, and finance

Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
